Suggestions

  • Separate behavioral issues & learning issues
  • Inform parents who to contact with concerns or how to advocate for more related services
  • Inform parents with community resources
  • Communication between school/home before an issue becomes extreme
  • Transportation supervision

Growth

  • Sensory Integration Room
  • Parent training class on IEP process
  • Increase student participation in IEP process when appropriate

Suggestions

  • With regard to vision and hearing services, the district should contract with high quality providers
  • Consider AII when more appropriate
  • Add programming for birth-3 children
  • Expand informational outreach to parents

IEP Process

Positives

  • Continued support to students from neighboring districts as appropriate and when available
  • All IDEA funds will now remain in district as there will no longer be on additional layer of administrative overhead

Suggestions

  • Look for ways to expand pre-IEP communication to parents
  • Strive to make IEP paperwork more parent friendly
  • Parent training on IEP forms
  • Parents recommend district maintain highly qualified staff for special services
